Movies that feel likeThe Road (2009)

A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind and water. It is cold enough to crack stones and, when the snow falls, it is gray. Their destination is the warmer south, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there.

If you loved The Road, the closest films we have are Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), Katyn (2007) and Flame & Citron (2008). All three share The Road's epic and contemplative feel, which is what we rank on before quality.

Seen the big three already? The under-the-radar pick below is The Captain (2018).
